haha what I used to do with the x's GMC and the reg-cab last year was buy 2 cans. 2/3 of 1 can into the intake via the vac hose to the brake booster, 2/3 into the oil ans the 1/3 form the 2 cans into the gas tank. worked great. when putting it tinto the vac hose I would dribble it in slowly enough not to stall the truck out. when I hit 2/3 I would shut the truck off for the night - HOLY hell would it smoke in the mornin.

Not sure if the US boys get CD2 Maxx but in Canada, I tried for hours to find Seafoam, no results. Previous owner (my father) used Wynn's Engine Tuner for the lifters. I've used it aswell, works fine. But last year I was so busy, I didn't even have time for an oil change. I went 32 571km OVER my next oil change. The truck was running like total shit, and the ticking was so loud... Wynn's didn't work at all. I finally changed the oil, threw in 2 bottles of CD2 Maxx into the crankcase, drove it till my next oil change, threw another 2 bottles of CD2 Maxx into the case, no ticking whatsoever. Runs like new right now.

Napa and piston ring both carry seafoam.

Is the head bolt in and go? or do you need to mod anything?

It will not matter what you do. No remedy will keep the lifters from ticking. Since yours is a 2200 it is hydraulic and it will always tick no matter what. And yea, they are pretty expensive to buy individually! You cannot adjust the lifters either. You will just have to deal with it, lol. Unless you get a 2.0 head like everyone has said.

Reason for this ticking is usually not because of any contaminates, but the viscosity of the oil. When your warming your truck up, the oil is usually pretty thick. That lifter will stick until it warms up and thins out. It will be pretty much useless to try and fix, but ya, if you pull the valve cover, you will have to replace the gasket; which is rubber. Make sure you get the gasket kit that has the grommets for the bolts as well!

If I were you, I would spend a day giving that engine a good internal inspection since you bought it used!

This is true-which is why I only use the Mazda factory filters in my Dawgs.Even with them, the 2200 still rattles a little on startup after sitting for a couple of weeks. The 2600 wont.BJ
