my dad found a totaled 2000 s10 with a 4.3 vortec for $500...would it be less of a hassle to do the 4.3 swap than it would be the 86 626 turbo

if so does anyone know of a place that sells the motor swap kit that used to sell or are they still in business because there website is not up and running

the 4.3 would be a great transplant because it's 190hp stock and there are tons of after market parts for it...and for $500 buck with only 113K miles isn't to shabby

would i have to have a custom drive shaft made or could i just modify the stock mazda drive shaft

also would the mazda rear end last at least a year while i save up money to replace it

UC is gone - again. Last contact I had with them they had 4 - 4.3 kits still. too bad. and the 4.3 kit was different than their v8 kit - so they told me. every one here that has done the 4.3 swap has said that it isn't as easy as first thought. I would still love to do this swap tho - maybe just use the newer vortec motor with a 500 cfm carb - to save on the wiring headache. You could probably have your driveshaft cut down. The stock driveshaft will hold up as long as you don't abuse it too much withthe new power. on the other hand - I am on my third rear end in my 89 with the stock 2.2 - BUT I used to drive it like I stole it. they werent made to take corners at 60 - 70 mph. :)
