you going to need something besides the stock front end (steering) as well

actually you could get lsd in the 81-85's if it was a gsl model, the gsl-se was only offered in 84-85, the difference is the brakes are 10" compared to 9.5 on the gsl, the bolt pattern is smaller, the gsl used lug studs instead of lug nuts, and the gearing in the chunks were slightly different.

also, the lug pattern being 4 lug would be hard if not impossible to do on the front hubs, a 5 x 4.5 is very hard to do, a 5 x 4.75 would probably be more feesable so you don't run into issues with a stud ending up in another hole....

the axle will work fine in the truck either with a leafspring setup or in a link type setup, as a matter-a-fact, it would be easier to use the link type since the link tabs are already on the axle, and the coil spring perches could be modifyed and made into bag mounts..... whereas putting it on the leafsprings requires removal of all the link tabs & perches, and installation of new perches for the leafs.....the wheel mounting surfaces are exactly the same as our trucks...
there are pics of my 85 gsl-se rear in this post

That is one of the most bitchin' 720's I have ever seen. Someone over here needs to build one. Although... I still don't get the drift scene. I'd rather see it go real fast than spin the tires all around a track.

I too would rather see it go fast around the track, and every once in a while a kool sliding burnout......I think the drift stuff comes from the dukes of hazard, except instead of dirt getting slung from the tires, it is rubber-n-smoke

ya i got the RB25 for the nissan and I am getting a supra twin turbo motor for the toyota and by the end of January i will have the room to bring over the s-2000 motor for my sons ride. I think when the nissan is finished it will have about 450 t0 500 at the rear end and i am getting the 240 rear end to go with it. This will have a complete coil over set up and can do track and drift. All I am going to need is some one to drive as I am going to be racing my new bike well quarter miles anyways.

its in the way it feels! its like slow motion, you feel free, smooth, just floating there. like swimming naked.. ok i'll stop now.

i like both though, skids and pulling major G's. you need to do some big skids for fun to understand. a bit of a smokey sideways up the road out of a t junction just doesnt count. flicking it back from left to right and again is awesome fun.
