i hear ya....i got my dcoe's in today from racetep....good guys!
you ought to go ahead & get a header & kill two birds w/ one stone....by the way the truck is lookin good, like the new rims, what are they anyhow?

Racetep seems like a good place so far. only 300 for my carb kit. I dont think my cats are clogged, but hey its a possibility. The reason i dont think they are is because i can rev the motor right out and itll go, but slower speeds it sucks. But if the problem is still there after the weber, I'll put one in.

another thing is i took my EGR off, and the carb hat, filter everything...and a few vacuum lines off....to see how it would run, and it actually was holding a solid idle and ran better than without that stuff on lol.

if i take my converter off, how would i know if its plugged or not? also i've heard headers aren't the greatest in winter...something about valves cooling too quickly? can someone explain? or is it a myth?

thanks for the comments on the truck by the way. the rims are off of a 02ish GMC Yukon Denali. im missing some centercaps...still gotta order em lol. money is a killer.

oh yeah....forgot to mention my rear cat is a brand new 2.5 magnaflow, so she should be good on that end anyway

I just went through this what i did was run some iso heet through it, you probably have water in your tank Id run two bottles of iso heet through it and see if it makes a difference. I also changed my plug wires fuel filter and ran some sea foam through the carb and tank. I also cleaned up the cap and rotor. see if that makes a difference thats my 2cents like i said run the two bottles of iso heet through it make sure to run it damn near empty before refueling make sure you don't use BP's gas I found it has a lot of water in it. It could also be your map sensor id try to find a used one since a new one goes for more than $200.

My truck did the exact same thing and seems to run a little better after it was warmed up. I replaced the accelerator pump in the carb and it ran like brand new. It hasn't given me any problems since.

I know its probably a little late since you got a weber already, but for what its worth it might help someone else out.

if you take it off, and the guts of it are hanging out, or if you take it off, and look into one end, and can't see tru to the other side...it's bad

as far as the header, even with you living waay up north, i've never heard of a header causing your valves to cool too quickly....i'll have to flag that for b.s. (please note, i could be wrong & it wouldn't be the first time, lol!)

the deal with valves cooling too quickly is like this:
when you run open headers (or in our case header) the valve is subject to the much cooler outside air being sucked back into the header pipe. when you run full exhaust the air in the exhaust tube stays much hotter for longer and when the piston sucks a little back in it's hot air.
the cold air on the valve and the 1600 degree heat of combustion combine and create a bad situation for valves.
the reciprocating pistons and opening and closing of valves isn't perfect. the exhaust valve is still open a little bit when the piston goes back down on it's intake stroke... the intake valve is open and the exhaust valve is still slightly open but making its way closed. i believe that's called valve overlap.
my room mate ran his 350 open header for like 2 years with no problems, but i'd not chance it. anyway, an openheader mazda sounds a litttle silly

silly...more like shitty. im experenced with that....

yeah, i have a bad habit of dragging my muffler off. i don't know how many time's i've replaced it. well anyway, i was at work after it fell off on the way there... and i started 'er up and reved it a few times and we all had a good laugh lol

Ok so the webers on. Truck runs really good now. My muffler got ripped off like last week or something so its just backfiring like crazy when i downshift lmao.

the only real problem is that it sometimes diesels after i shut it off, and theres a bit of hesitation when you hammer down hard, but not when your just getting up to speed slow.

obviously perfection takes time any ideas how to tune these problems out?...richer/leaner?...idle speed needs to go lower for sure tho right?
