so basicly the 88-92 mx6 626 and probe motor are the same as my 2.2 will they fit my mounts and if they are the same are parts interchangeable

they are same block with different head. you will have to flip the intake around because it is facing the firewall.

i have a 90 miata with the 1.6 and was thinking of getting a jdm one and turboing it for my car, and taking mine but making it irtb. check when it comes back up.

Check out these guys everything has been done there. There have been miatae with klze's in them but there are issues ex, kl's are designed to be at an angle so the oil can drain mounting it upright can make drainage very difficult. There are unlimited numbers of turbo kits for the 1.8L bp, the highest hp bolt on afaik is 265whp from flyin miata. for v6's there are items like suzuki vitara 2.5 and 2.7 motors, these are rwd and guess who helped suzuki build em? They are essentialy rwd kl motors complete with trans (at least in 4wd trucks) and are turbo friendly with potential for 600-800hp.

Most miata owners don't bother with all these other motors cause their bp's potential is almost limitless, especialy when a 2L stroker kit is added ($2g for 150cc's).

I know ther'se other questions out there so ask away!

the bp is under square, stroking it further is just making that already undesirable trait worse!

bp is a good motor no doubt, easy to make 350hp with it like making 400hp with the fe3. having a bigger bore and consequently bigger valves and ports makes making power a lot easier.

stock rods in all but the gtr bpd bp are light and weak. those should be upgraded for any serious boost/power.

also, be careful with bp/b6 as the "shortnose" crank versions have a crank snapping tendency where the pistons meet the valves up close and real personal (fishnet style) not good.

rwd kl swaps have been done, see here for info :

Yes, all true and valid points, though I have made 300hp on a bpt (gtx) with stock internals without failure. For most people I would think the jump from 86hp to 300hp would be sufficient and therefore a stock bp would be adequate (1.6 gtx and gtr rods would be a bonus for saftey). I have heard of people safely running 30psi on a stock GTR block.

Short nose cranks were (over here at least) only in the 1990 miatas in the 1.6's. I've heard of short nose bp's but have never seen one but anything older than '92 I would be skeptical of.

I would agree that stroking isn't the best idea because it makes a rev happy engine a little less livley. Also that for a truck application you want some displacement and a big turbo but for budget projects a bp with a bolt on turbo kit at 12psi making 265whp is probably enough for many.

All that being said when I had my truck I was either going to do a suzuki v6 swap or an fe3 but I know these bp's power my 2200lb cars like rocket engines and would be plenty for most people and they are only 160cc smaller than an fe3 (they displace 1.84L). Plus who wouldn't love showing people their idy bidy motor when people are asking "woha, what'ca got in that thing?" (I know I do).

so inferno have you swapped a miata engine in a b-series?

Nope, I'd assume it requires the usual engine mount movement but the exhaust is on the same side.
