Ok so heres the deal. When I remove the wires it does nothing just drops to nothing when I put the long one on it slowly goes to nothing maybe a little above but will not move even if I let it sit for longer. When I pull both it obviously does nothing. When I have the short one on the sensor and the long one off (not connected to the alt) the gauge does nothing. It only does something when both are connected (long one to the alt and short one to the sensor.) However when it is like that it goes all the way up beyond the hot mark on the gauge.

What is wrong here?

Anyone care to check whether its a short yellow wire going to the sensor and a longer one on the alternator? Or maybe this wire is completely wrong?

hey zac i just looked at mine and the yellow wire from the sensor in mine is goin straight in to the main harness and the yellow with red stripe off of the oil sending unit is going to the alternator. you may have both goin in to the sending unit and in to the alt which is most likely what is giving you the way hotter reading.

Is this the sensor in the picture above with the yellow and red wire or is there another yellow and red wire u speak of?

take a pic of the plug plugged in to the sensor itself. and is there two wires goin in to the sending unit or not? if there is where are both the wires going too?

No only one wire. It goes directly to the main harness and is yellow with red bands.

man im not trying to be a smart ass but read what i wrote way the heck up there, i may be new to this forum but im not new to radiators, if you've already established that the wire isn't the problem, please do as i suggested above. i worked in a radiator shop for a long while, i ran the shop (actual work) myself while my lazy boss did all the paper work. ive seen them all, small, big, long, short, tall, plastic, aluminum, you name it (radiator) ive repaired it, cars, trucks, tractors, heavy equiptment, forklifts, anything with a radiator im sure ive either replaced or repaired it at some point in my 2.5 yrs of working in the radiator shop. enough about all that please refer to my last post, thanks

Sorry I didn't respond before but I did read it and the reason I didn't do it was because I just rebuilt the motor and replaced the rad and during the process flushed both the rad and engine and the water was running fine. Thanks for the suggestion tho, but I did read it man I won't intentionally skip needed advice lol.

Its probably going to the shop tonight to get this resolved and to get it certified... So unless there are any final thoughts....?
