i have had some problems with my house that i have been working on. i had a slab leak on the hot water side. i ended up sleeving the original line and i am having problems getting the compression fittings to seal off. it is being a real bitch. plus i pulled up the floor where it was leaking in the bathroom so now i am tiling so that i can get my toilet back down and have 2 full bathrooms again. once this is all done i will be getting back on the bed.

ADjusting the timing wasnt shit at all on my 83 man there should be a thin rod down were your stock a/c pump would go and theres 2 marks on your pulleys line that sucker up and blam.

glad it's running, hopefully you'll get the timing fixed, i'd be careful with it till you do, don't want to damage any internals....sounds like it slipped a link on the timing chain/belt

the water choke should just tie into the "hot" coolant side of the engine, that way when the engine is cold, the choke will be activate, once it warms up, the choke will disengage....probably nothing more than a small coolant line from the carb & a fitting to tap into the "hot" coolant side of the motor some where....

that is wierd, my choke is electric but the side of the carb says 32 36 dfav. i need to look into but i wonder if all 32 36 dfav carb were water choked or if someone modded this one or what. i want to say that this carb was actually built for volkswagons which is why the may be water choked, but i could be wrong.

and i think the timing has been off since i got the truck. it has had a lot of crazy issues and i just about have them all worked out. the timing and changing the valve stems should be the last of the issues before she runs like new. i will keep you guys posted when i get it all fixed up.

you still have to pull the chain off right? i have never messed with a chain so this will be the first. i could be wrong but it looks like you almost have to pull the front of the engine all apart. let me know bro.

If your replacing all the gaskets yes sir you do have to pull the front apart, take the water pump and all that jazz off. Its not that bad man I'll be honest it looks like it is but its not that bad.

I didnt pull the chain off mine when I adjusted the timing. I pulled the chain off to check on the camshaft and make sure it was okay.

Let me no man, go to autozone and get the mazda manual for our trucks. That thing was a life saver when it came time to replace my head gasket.
