it ran perfect before i pulled it. Filled with coolant before starting. Ill check the whole coolant system tomorrow.

Could the radiator be crap? Ill switch the one I used with the engine in the old truck tomorrow.

radiatior being crap wont cause an engine to smoke,
white smoke= blown head gasket/water in engine
blue smoke= burning oil
black smoke=running rich/fouled plugs

good luck

OOOOOOO shit. First off, the lower rad hose is new and its kinda big so its got some tightness in it and not full flowing by any means. Also, when I had the engine out on the crane, i tryed degreasing it a little. I taped off the threads and big hole where the oil filter goes but I didnt realize there was a little channel in the side and im pretty sure a small amount of water got in there. I completly drained the oil pan to the fullest cause I leaned the engine back and forth while it was in the air but is it possible that some water was left in that passage way and is burning off?

very possible, it creates a steam, if when you open your rad cap with the engine on, if it isnt bubbling then its left over water, if left over water IS in fact the case, run it for a bit then clean the oil again

will do, thanks

i wouldn't suggest running the carb without a fuel regulator.... also that throttle cable isn't going to stay like that.... it will eventually fall away from the bracket.... very unsafe.... could fail while your pulling out across traffic.... if you loosen one of the nuts about 1/4 inch away from the washer the rubber piece should slide up on the bracket.... if you can't get the rubber piece up in the bracket id atleast put one of the nuts on the other side of it and tighten it up to keep it from coming off there

the rubber piece wont slide into the bracket because the bolt itself wont slide into the bracket and the rubber piece is over the bolt. The outside nut wont go on the other side of the bracket because it wont come off the threads all the way for me to slide the wire piece into the bracket then retighten the nut.
What pressure regulator do you run and how much?

I would let the motor run a bit and clean up some also have the cap off to check for bubbles when you do. Not sure why you would need to run a regulater mine runs fine without.....and have seen lots of others without? Maybe with the electric pump you would need one? You should be able to get some pipe plugs for the manifold to cap those holes untill you get the header. I would get that thottle fixed before driveing it. What you need to do it take it off take the nut off to the cable and the rubber and washer slide the cable threw the slot then slide the rubber back on and then the nut....
