Do they make Webers for the 2600's? Tell you the truth, if they do.. im sure youd be better off just getting a Weber, i think you can get them for under $300, about $290 if your Canadian..haha zinnng.

I had the same deal, not idling right, not starting, all that garbage...got a weber and haven't looked back. I know you said your low on the funding, but they pay for themselves very quickly.

EDIT:: Isnt there some kind of fault in our distributors that cause the problem she sounds like shes having?

Just my 2 pennies

i know that on a weber and a redline like what i have you can hook up a synchrometer, vacuum gauge, and a tach and fine tune it. but i do not know anything about the stock carbs. i rebuilt the stock carb for my 89 b2200 and never could get it right so i said screw it and got my redline. i would imagine that you could fine tune it the same way on a stock carb. i am assuming that you have already stripped it down and rebuilt it? if so how well did you clean the jets and journals? the littlest crud can really screw with you.

also check for a kink in your fuel lines. i say this from experience. i had a 65 mustang fastback with a 302 and we were stumped for a week on what it was. it would crank up and drive but would shut off and i had to wait to crank it back up again. we replaced the carb, and gave it a complete tune up all for a stupid little kinked fuel line coming off the cell. but it ran great after that. haha. keep us posted. from what i have read, after you fix this it should run like a champ.

vapor lock?fuel atomizing before it reaches carb.wrap incoming fuel line with a heat insulator like tin foil and see if that heps.

Okay to answer every one's questions, I was going to rebuild the carb on this thing and when I finally saw a blow up on it I was like fuck that. I wish it was simple like a old school Chevy. I've also have read that allot of people have upgraded to a Weber and have had the same problems. Plus Ma still have emission testing so I would have to leave all of the egr and emission stuff on it, so upgrading to a Weber I've seen that you have to eliminate allot of that stuff and I would be F'd.

I am going to check for a knick in the fuel line though, because it does Hastie a bit when I'm driving and going through gears like it's not getting either enough fuel or air.
I also messed with the distributor, and it didn't help.

But for right now I'm putting my money on vapor lock and I'm going to check all of the fuel lines.

Oh also I'm not going to pore money into this thing I own two Mitsubishi 3000gt vr4 that are ready my money pits and far more worth working on than this thing. This truck was suppose to be my beater truck for the winter time. So I'm not buying any tacks or gauges for it. I just want to drive it and go wheeling with it. ^_^

Just for the record I drove this thing all the way from VT to MA it was a 3 1/2 hour drive and the thing drove fine, I get it home and thing I have these problems.

okay I checked on the fuel lines no knicks and I sprayed some carb cleaner around the engine to see if It would rev to check for vac leaks and nothing. So I'm taking out the vac leak option.

But what I do want to know if there is anyone on this board makes a straight through pipe to come off of the header. I believe that my cat off of the header may be done. No one carries them I checked at my job and nothing and every auto store has nothing.

do you have a fuel pressure gauge anywhere? you may want to make sure you don't have a semi clogged line. how long did it sit up before you got it? if it drove fine for 3.5 hrs and then it started acting up, you may have just sucked something up from the fuel cell.

try a bottle of heat in the gas tank too.

i am still thinking of what else it could be.

if your looking to ditch cats you could always just shove a big pipe thru the cats, itll be like a straight pipe. i ditched my cats...so much more power now...couldnt believe the difference

just got in from the club and dancing my a@@ off. But yes I believe you on how much more power and mpg you can get from out of running a straight through. I did it on both of my 3000gt's. I put a bottle of lucas (I hate them but I had a bottle left over in my garage) and sea form into the tank when I was doing the major tune up on the thing.
I may just gut the cat's and call it a day, but like everyone I hate doing exhaust work if I do not have to.
I'm not sure how long it sat I ask the fcuker that sold me the truck and I believe he said a month or two.
No gauge on the fuel pressure, just a light. and the wire was unplugged when I was going through the engine bay to check things out, and I plugged it back in.

thats pretty mint you know so much about vehicles. i dunno im just throwing ideas out here but my truck ran like shit for alil while, ice kept building up in my carb because of the weber (no exhaust heat to warm carb)..may wanna check that...? just another idea.

+1 for you throwin some pics up of yourself

haha on boy I always get this when I post. someone took a pic of me because one of my friends made a bet with me to do a mohawk and I braided my long hair into it. It sounds weird but it turned out really really good LOL. some random chicks came up to me to use me in some major photo shoot thing. I have the paper to look at the details later on.

But back to my stupid truck I really do not feel like messing with the exhaust but I guess I'm going to have to. But before I do I want to make sure that I can get the gaskets for it first, because that would suck if I take it off and I can not find any gaskets.

Is there anyone close to MA that knows how to adjust the carb on a 2600??
