i tryed but i held back cause i wasnt sure if i forgot something but if you think its just siezed up a good little bit then ill hook it up to my engine hoist and try that.

i think that that tube on the side of the engine is bolted to the back side of the head. Then I would just get in there with a rubber mallet, DON'T TRY TO PRY IT OFF!!! good luck

Can you take pics of your engine with the head off please. I put a head on my engine recently and it blows air into the coolant. Basically I wanted to know if there were any dowel pins in the head or block. Neither of mine had it and I think I needed them.

i will if i can get the fucker off, i just went out and banged on it like a mofo. does anyone think it will be alright to try to pull it off w/an engine hoist?

I wouldn't think thats a great idea. If it is stuck that bad you'd have to put lots of pressure on it with the hoist and I can just picture a head whipping off and the engine dropping back down. Just doesn't sound the safest. Sounds like you may have missed a bolt but from the looks of the pics you haven't.

Your head does look really... Burnt? or whatever you want to call it it does not look like mine did so maybe there is a chance its just corroded on there horribly... Just judging by the looks of it.

i got it off. i just banged it a lot then put it on the hoist and it popped right off. The pistons are all black and look like they need cleaning. Anybody have any tips on gasket scraping and piston and deck cleaning?

try un bolting the coolant hard lines in the rear of the head and the ground strap then beat the ever lovin shit out of it with a ruber mallet

Well is it like sooty, carbon black?

Get yourself a wallscraper for home renovation or whatever. They're scrapers you use to get wallpaper off and whatnot.

There are many of things you can use to clean the crap off. I myself would either use Lacquer thinner, or a strong denatured alcohol. IF you do use this stuff, either get a fan in there for some air circulation or wear a respirator!

It should break the gasket down good enough for a good scraping!

Be careful not to put nicks or scratches, marrs, etc. in the block and head!
