Why wont my head come off

A little trick to check the deck is take a straight edge...has to be straigt like a T square place it on the deck worst spots between cylinders then put a light behind it or use feeler gauges under it.

I think it was something along the lines of a good body on the truck but bad engine and the olde truck you had, had a bad body but this good engine?

So my chiltons manual has alot of info about the head and adjustments, etc. I just don't wanna type it all up!

the engine ran great in the old truck, i flogged it everytime i drove it but it sat for like 3 months but whatever. Thanks for the manual pics and stuff dude.

i got all everything stripped off the head and am taking it to machine shop this week for pressure testing and cleaning. The first valve spring I compressed, 1 of the keepers flew off somewhere and I cant find it. So where can I get 1 keeper?

I lost a keeper on a honda once while pulling them off while the head was still on the motor and in the car.... Try the machine shop they should have 1 laying around

Does anyone know if the exhaust and inatke keepers are different? Advanceautoparts.com says they are and a whole set for the head is $50. I didnt think about this and mixed them up in one container when I was taking them off. Ill ask the machine shop for sure.

I got mine at O'Reilly's auto parts There web site shows them at 2.29 a valve. It does call for differnt part numbers but there the same price.

get a head rebuild set. new valves, springs, seals, and keepers. Well worth the money

So you have two alignment dowls on your block right? or am I not seeing others? Any come off with the head? I put a head on my truck and noticed that there werent any dowls in it. But I went ahead anyways. Now I have compression being blown into my coolan. I don't have any coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant. I think this may have something to do with the dowl situation. Also, what gasket kit did you buy? Not trying to hijack a thread, but trying to figure out the deal with my truck before I swap engines when all it could be is a gasket problem.
