no i don't plan on racing. i wouldn't mind racing it a couple times just to see what it would actually do if it even hooks up. detroit locker 3.50 gears with a 1990 302 ,b303 cam, gt 40 alum heads and tremec 3550 trans.

Rutter ... how did that versailles rear end fit before you narrowed it ?? did it have factory disks on it ??

it actually fit great. i know i could have put a 8" on back, but i don't think nothing bigger without modification. definately had less backspacing, it would look more like a normal wheel and not fwd. i'll have to measure the wheels i actually had under it just to set it on the ground. i don't remember if they are 7 or 8 wide.

u might try finding a 75 to 78 mustang II rearend. preferibly mach1 or cobra with v8 they had posi's around 355 gear ratio . get a great price in junk yard i would think. at least round here we do. most of these necks in mississippi dont think of performance, unless it has antlers on it..

The stock rearend is a nice piece but the gear ratio is not going to work with a V-8 trans unless it has overdrive and even then the ratio is too low.

a 9 inch is probably the best way to go. one from a small Ford car from the 70s would have the correct 5 lug pattern to swap to the Toyota/Ford style pattern.

if you want to keep the 6 lug, shich is what Im doing, then you need to have the axles redrilled when you have them shortened. I found a place to shorten the axles and redrill them for 225

then you have the strength of the 9 inch, shich is the best stock rearend ever made, and the largest range of gear ratios of any rearend and they are available at any wrecking yard.
