Air shocks are really not meant to hold the entire truck's weight, but that doesn't mean you can't use them that way. Wouldn't recommend it as it wouldn't last as long as you'd like it to last.

If you go with cylinders, the common cylinders used in cars now is not enough for a truck. You need a larger diameter cylinder to hold a truck's weight. You can use the smaller diameter 3-4inch cylinders, but you'll be pushing 150+ psi into those things. Minimum should be atleast a 5inch diameter cylinder, which is the diameter of a small sized bag like the Slam 52's

O yeah there's nothing wrong with hydros either. To save money you could run a single pump setup.

Thats all old schoolers had. I've done it and never had any issues. Bags are 100% better though. I'd save $ and do bags, but if your not planning on going that far, air shocks are a good compromise. You may just need to fab up some different mounts. The mazda in my sig was running air shocks in the rear for many years with no problems.

air shocks arent that much cheaper either. by thge time you get the tanks valves compressor line and metal you'll prolly just end up buying the bags also because they aint that much more. and i'll have to admit the ride alot better than shocks. but its upto you everybody on here is just tryin to save you some money. from the mistakes we bought.

hmm I been really thinkin bout doin this, has anybody tried runnin 2 sets of shocks?

The local fuzz has a hatin on fer bagged rides and cuttin frames, I just need a little lift so I can drive without wreckin sumthin.
