so i had someone else do my rear setup and noticed when i layed the back out my frame was about 3/4" from the ground. so i took off my c notches and raised/extended them 3 1/4 inches. just want to make sure the bags look ok.
here's it front and back layed out.

here it is with front all the way up, back all the way down. bag is smashing on itself but only in this position.

don't know if this is normal or not. I'm getting ready to relocate my gas tank to the back of the bed, any suggestions? i want to have it as low as possible then raise bed floor up to cover tank. looking at it i propably should only hang tank below frame 2" or so? since with front all the way up and back all the way down frame is only about 4" off ground. this is my first time doing this so any help i would really appreciate. want to try to start the box for my tank tonight.

thanks.

looks like your upper bag mounts are mounted to far back??

yep. its wrong. the bag should be collapsed on itself squarely, just like common sense told you.

Yeaaa, dang man, go back to that guy and tell him to fix it on his own money..

Bag brackets need to go a little futher forward just like these guys above me said so it collapses on itself squarely. As well, the link tabs at the axle ARE HUGE! Why did he put on such big tabs?

Are the link ends heims as well? Can't really tell...

As well, it looks like the bag brackets have been cut half way off, I dunno if thats gonna be a problem, but I would'nt like it if I were you.

And you don't tell if you lay frame at the end of the truck. The backhalf frame of the truck kicks up from the rest of the frame in the front. You need to look at whether the frame under the cab is sitting on the ground or not.

At least he looks like he can weld.

Depeneding on if the driveline is set up correctly you could just lenghten the 4-link bars to push the axle back. That would get the axle under the upper bag brackets more, BUT this all depends on the driveline! Also bags can be offset from top plate to bottom a certain amount. Manufactures usually have a spec for how much they can be off centered, check with them to see. When its lifted the alignment looks pretty good, from the pictures anyway. I would love to see a picture thats shot from above the 4-link bars down to the frame. I have a good feeling that the upper bars are shorter than the lower bars causing the top of the axle to tilt forward when the truck is laid out. Also there is noithing wrong with the lower tabs being as long as there are. I might add some gusseting to them just to stiffen them up more but the lenght might be fine if set up in proper relationship to the upper tabs and fornt of the bars.

i was afraid u guys would say that. well i'm probably the one that messed it up the most. before i started on it the bags they were still collapsing sideways but not near as bad as they are now. what i did was jack everything up as far as i could, frame and rearend without removing my 4-link bars so i could work on it easier. the top bag brackets were pretty close to center of axle maybe a inch towards the cab or so before i started. so after i extended my notches 3" or so i centered the top bracket over the axle or really close to it thinking it should be directly over it since the bag goes straight up and down. i think when i lowered everything back down some stuff might have changed. another thig i noticed is the lower bag brackets on axle are tipped toward the tailgate maybe if i tip them toward cab would fix the probablm? i've never done a 4-link or even seen one so all this is new to me. before when i was checking if i was laying frame i was looking right behind cab at crossmember which was about 3/4" off the ground and axle was hitting bottom of c notch with 17's on it. i wanted to run 20's in back so i thought adding 3 1/4" would do it. going to take some more pics and mesurements. if i can i would like to keep my c notches....... i spent a lot of time on them. if not oh well...... live and learn.

thanks.

ok.... my top 4-link bars are 21 3/4" long and bottom ones are 25 7/8" long. here are some pics.... i took all pics with front all the way up.

back all the way up.

back about half way down.

back just down enough for crossmember behind cab hits the ground.

my pinon to center when back is all the up is 10" all the way down to center is 9 3/4"

hope i didn't take to many pictures, just want to get it right.

thanks.

Even though the difference between the top bars and the bottom bars is 4.125" its actually more because the top bars are on an angle. Looking at truck from the side if you were to draw an imaginary line vertical from the ground through the lower heim joint on the front of the lower bars, the upper bars heims would fall on the same plane. Because your top bars are shorter they tighen up faster though the arc causing the top of the axle to pull forward, off setting the lower portion of the bag. Also I don't know how you set up your 4-link but I like to set mine up parrellel to the ground at half travel and set the pinion angle at ride height. Hopefull that helps alittle.

those upper bag brackets are gonna bend over a period of time and with them being cut like that is just gonna increase the time on when they do start to bend.
