Ok, I have done my research about how to static drop my front end by cranking the torsion bars and re-indexing them...but I have a concern/question on how the truck will ride after I lower it. I have stock 15" wheels and stock sized tires. In the back I will probably use 2" blocks and take the middle two leaves out. I have an older Sony CD player and it skips with the truck at stock height when a bump is hit.
I guess I just want to now how your trucks have felt and how the CD player does after you've static dropped yours. Thanks

i cranked my torsion bars down 2 and a half inches and 4 inch blocks in the rear and i have a walmart headunit and it doesnt skip when i hit bumps

Maybe it's just the Salt Lake City "cheese grater" roads we have. Did your truck ride any different up front? I saw someone caution another forum member that cranking your torsion bars will make for a ruff ride.

its rougher but youre taking away some of your suspension travel you get used to it real quick though

just make sure to remove the bump stops and get new/shorter shocks

Thanks for the help. Maybe I'll get this done Saturday or Sunday if I can find some bump stops around here.

You should def. get shorter shocks, remove the front bump stop and mount. Take the mount all the way back to the frame. You can be low and have a decent ride. In the rear the bump stop is held on by the u-bolts. Re-install it with your blocks, then cut it so it is just a hair above the u-bolts. This will give the max travel as well as keep the axel from contacting the frame on hard bumps.

Ok thanks Badchicn. I was thinking about the rear leafs and was wondering what the benefit of monoleafing with the overload is. The two inch block is on top of the leafs, so it wouldn't make the ride any lower...so why is this done?

monoleafing lets the weight of the truck get the truck lower. ya dig? i mono leafed my excab with a 3in block and the axle sat on the frame. not good. so i only left one out and it rides good,
