Cheers for the advice dude! I really appreciate it, sorry for all the little questions, just want to get it right first time!

I had a piece of spring steel exactly the same thickness and rating of mazda leafs. I tried to bend it using the press we have in the workshop but its a old swing style press.

It didnt make a dent in the steel curvature so i was just curious as to whether it would be better to heat it prior to bending or just use the bottle jack and make a fixture to hold everything in place.

Also one of my colleagues practically ran from the vicinity thinking the steel would fracture and break while under the pressure from the press. Obviously i know all metal has a breaking point but just confirm this for me so i can tell him to relax.

Honestly, for safety and your truck being level, just take them to a spring shop and have them do it. If they are all ready out I'm sure they won't charge more then an hours labour.

I would run the single leaf with the load leaf (the big one) with the block and it will go low... not slammed but alot lower than you have it

This was the end result

Thanks for the advice, but id rather do this myself to gain the experience. I work as a precision engineer so getting them spot on is no problem, im just asking for tips people would have.

Isnt that method of lowering similar to a mono leaf setup? Just a different leaf instead of the overload leaf?

yes but you aren't just running one leaf you have the "overload" the big one on the bottom. The mono leaf will straighten itself out.

You got a picture of this setup in your truck?

i can take some when i get off... of the leaf with the block?
