ok question:

If i do relocate my gas tank to the rear inbetween the frame rails, how do i go about getting rid of the gas tank crossmember? even if i cut it out, the bar still goes through the frame and is welded on both sides. Right now that bar is in the way of my notch, and im not to shure how to go about notchin my truck with that damn bar in the way. that thing is the only thing holding me up. Please someone shed some light on this for me.

Also;
If i do relocate the tank to the back, what would i need to re plumb it? am i gonna just extend the fuel lines or do i have to extend wires and such?

Thanks guys

you just cut that bar out with a sawzall. If I remember correctly there really is no way to take the part inside the frame out.

We used a torch and then filled the frame rail w/ 1/4in plate.
You will get fuel line from like pep boys or something.. and you will have to extend the wires also.. but its not that big of a deal.

dont be skurred, cut it, just make sure you dont cut the spare tire crossmember at the same time lol cause your frame will be out of whack

so cut the gastank crossmember, notch the truck and run the bridge bars, then cut the spare tire crossmember. made that mistake, was a pain in the ass

Sweet thanks guys that helps a lot. The only problem I seem to find is, I bought a notch from gravity werx and it is allready welded up. Its 3 pieces of 2x3 allready welded together. So if I were to cut a hole in the top of the frame and slid the notch in, the front part of the notch sits right were that gas tank crossmember bar is in thw frame. I'm not to shure how to even go about notchin it with this kind of notch.
I like it cause it looks much cleaner then the 8 piece notch, but considering our frames are boxed in I wish I would have got and 8 piece.

Ya 8 peice would be alot easier. I guess cut the holes in the frame and trim the notch till it slides around that gas tank bar. If you look in last issue of minitruckin did you see how they drilled those holes for the backhalf? I would do that to your notch too just to get some extra strength

ah i c. that sucks lol

yeah im still kinda unshure on what i should do with my notch. i seen the last issue of mini truckin and it answerd a couple questions but not all of them.
If i install the notch around the bar the only way it would work is if i kept the notch super big. i dont know if that is a bad thing or not. cause then when i lay out the truck the frame would hit the ground before the axal even got close to coming in contact with the notch.

has anyone here ever used a notch like the one i have, and if so can someone please shed some light.
Thanks guys

It doesnt matter if the frame hits way before the axle ever comes in contact. On a 205/40/17 tire a Mazda only needs 2 1/4" of notch. Most notches people use are WAY to big anyways, so it wont look any different than anyone elses really.
