bondo work

whats up .. jumpin into some of my first bondo work and was wondering whats a good finishing grit paper to use?

i finish mine up with 100 and it came out nice, then 1000 wet on the glazing putty.

werd, let's call it "body filler" instead of bondo

glazing putty - it is super hard super fine smooth stuff

i started with 120 i think and finished with 1200 i think

I usually finish my body filler off with 180 then do my last coat with a coat of glazing putty and finish sand that with 220. Really primer can fill 180 grit scratches unless you are using the rattle can stuff.

Bondo??? uh I've used different types of BODY FILLER at times.

I never hit body filler with anything less than 80. Cheese grater, 40, then 80. If I need some putty, I block it with 180. DO NOT wet sand body filler or putty. It is not made to get wet. A good 2k high build will fill in 80 grit scratches if you have done it right. If it isnt perfect, block with 180-220 and prime again. Then wetsand with 400 first, and finally 800. 1000 and higher on primer is a waste of time.

But then again, you are a beginner so you should probably leave the 40 grit stage out, and only do 80 then 180 on your filler.

thanks for the info im using a grinder instead of a cheeze grade file workin nice and fast havent made it look to tight yet...

well, a lil trick i have picked up, when the bondo is in its gummy stage, i take a file to it, it is a realy intense file i used to use for my cart tires.., only beucase i tend to be a lil sloppy, so when its hard i sand it down, then use the glazing putty.... good luck with the work...try some candian tire kitty hair to, good luck97
