but do you have to buy any solenoids or poppers or anything else like that? Like I said I'm a little ignorant on the whole mini-truck scene.

No, you don't HAVE to buy solenoids/poppers. I just happen to have them on mine. In your case the rod in the pic will simply connect to your keylock.

sorry guys I'm really slow and don't want to mess my shit up. so in general all I do is take the rod from the lock and put it to the actual latch that grabs the strikers? whats the chances of breaking the key off in the hole? i'm going to buy the actual shave kit around Christmas, just doing this temporaraly!

chance is fair you'll break off your key. depends how many times you've sat on the key or bent it by mistake, is that the original 20 year old key? or a new one? how hard is your latch to operate... lots of factors...

my old 620 datsun was shaved and it poped the door with the key never had any problems at all...the key hole was reloceted to about 3/4 way down the door from the stock loccation so we got a str8 pull

actually the key is 21 years old....lol....but I think for the most part she is straight ands not bent. the doors usually unlock fairly easy.

Maybe this would be a great sticky or tech write up?
