2wd b2600i's had the bubble hood too. With the regular hood the intake will rub on the underside.

87-88 Mazda 2600s had a Mitsubishi carbed engine 2wd and 4wd.When the Mazda 2600i engine was introduced in 1989 in both 2wd and 4wd trucks, the "power dome" hood was fitted for FI clearance purposes. That truck was made from 1989 until 1993.bj

not all the 2wd versions came stock with a flat hood... my 1991 mazda b2600i has the bubble, and its still the factory hood...

mine was a 2600i and had a flat hood, the under braces were bent a little differently to clear the intake

hey thats neat... that must have been just before the 'power bulge' hoods were ready! (but the FI 2.6 was ready)

another curious tidbit question as we are on the model year changes topic: when was the stamped tailgate produced from and till? till 84 or 85?

from the majority of talks about trim options, and differences between models werent really documented very well. some have chrome trim, some have power steering, some have air conditioning... from what ive read mazda really didnt have their models really set in stone... the mystery about what came with what is still the big thing...

Thanks for all the info. Yes, the truck is injected. Our 93 B2600i had a bubble hood, our friends had a 92 B2600i and it had a bubble hood. The 90 B2600i we have now does not...just trying to figure out if this is the original hood or a stock replacement.

Thanks for the info!
