So I have my Cadillac that came from the factory with the premium Bose stereo. It's 8 speakers with an amp in the trunk. The headunit is all part of the dash and the climate controls,so it obviously can't be taken out and replaced with an aftermarket one.

I'm no guru when it comes to electrical work, but I just want to add a sub or two. How do I hook them up? Obviously I have no RCA jacks I can plug into the head unit, and the factory amp won't be strong enough to push whatever sub(s) I run.

I'm thinking of taking my 400w Kenwood amp and 10" Pioneer sub from my truck for now and putting them into the car until I can go and pick up a nice pair of 12s or something..

Anyone have any ideas?

there is such a thing as an loc= line output converter. it converts speaker wire signal to rca signal. its cheap and easy. the best place to catch it in your car is at the factory sub if you have one. most cadillacs have them in the center of the back deck panel. we usually take them out and use the wiring for the signal for the loc to the amp. this also ports the trunk into the cabin so it will be louder in the car. there is no use to keep the factory sub cause it will eventually blow.

LLI=Line Level Inverter.... you have to grab the speaker wires AFTER the factory amp, if you dont you wont get any signal also, on the inverter, theres a gain control, be careful when adjusting you can get a lot of distortion and backfeed through it. causing baffled bass notes. they cost like i dunno 10-10 bucks. extremely simple install.

I had one of those made by scoshe for a while in my truck going to my 400w jensen amp and one 12" sub. Worked real good just took alot of fine tuning to get it right.

i used a converter made by monster cable in my 96 sts caddy. i've got one in my jeep with the infinity factory stereo and it works great with that system too. i'll get a model number of it tommarrow

the thing that mazdawg and marcus are talkin about worked good the time or two that i used it. quick and easy. especially with a factory headunit setup.
