I installed an aftermarket tachometer in my B2200 today, an aftermarket Actron SunPro CP7908, $30 in stock at Pep Boys. I modified the supplied bracket so it would sit lower, see photo, works great.
i got a question about intsalling a cluster with the tach in it...........are the wire already behind the dash to wire up the tach or does it have to be wired up manually.
Not very hard. Unhook it from the back of the gauge cluster and pull it out of the firewall. Unscrew it from the trans and undo a few clips holding the cable and it should be free.
question.
on the back of my old cluster there was a green and yellow cable comming out of the rear and taps into 2 screws in the rear,What are those two wires for and Why does the New cluster with RPM's don't have one?
Also on the 1st page,2nd to last pictures the write up shows a yellow and green wires going around the harness and No where else in the pictures does it show that.
those were wires that were added to make the clock work, but ive done this this cluster swap 3 times already and never had to add wires to make the clock work,
the only thing i had wierd was the engine light was showing up as a washer fuild light, but that cluster came from an 87, and i put it in a 92, then i bought a cluster from a 92 and problem was solved
Midnightmike- I noticed after words what those two wires where.
Today i finished the swap and everything turned out sweet! I won the Cluster off of ebay and was hoping everything worked good and it does. So the seller will get good feed back.
But i am having a issue with the MPH! Whats happing is when i start off 1st 2nd 3rd,ect. It jumps from 0MPH to 20MPH, It doesn't roll smooth. I'm thinking it might be my cable connection for the MPH! Any i deas?
