If you do that your head unit will always be on unless you run a switch. Are you just trying to find a constant or a switched source. That would be fine for the constant. If I were you for the switched line I would definitely run it off something stock like the cig lighter. Dealing with a separate switch isn't really worth it when you have other sources available.

Dude. Cigarette lighter is right there... and it doesn't mean you have to eliminate the cig lighter for it you can just splice it off of it. Its a lot easier IMO but do what you want...

so your saying that your ground is hooked to the chassis (meaning that you have installed a wire to the floor of the trans tunnel) right? because there is no ground wire on these trucks you have to put on in yourself

ya thats exactly wat im sayin, threaded it around a screw and screwed it in and threw a piece of electrical tape over it

have you tried this? because i have had a problem with a deck befor and it was from a loose conection in the harness used a lil of this and bam was back i action

buy some its fairly cheap.... think you can get it at any parts store

finally got the deck workin, haha after blowin a bunch of fuses and splicing wires together lik crazy, hahahaha, but she finally works.

another question is how do to take apart the dash, i want to mount the headunit in that slot thing below the heater contols, so how do i get to that piece to get it out and get the headunit in there?

To take apart the dash, Start Tracing screws... you'll figure it out, its quite easy
