Measure the depth of your sub or subs make the box as shallow as possible. Just make the box wider so it still has the right amount of air space. .75 for 10 1 cubic foot for a 12. Or you can make the box too small and fill it with polyfill. That stuff is great! I've used it on small boxes a few times without loosing the frequency range. Just don't go to small and you should be okay.

your best bet is like the guys are saying...make a custom centre console. I'd recommend going with 8" subs. They are easier to fit between the seats. Generally speaking,to fit a 10" sub between the seats, you need about a half inch on either side of the sub so that you can mount it into the box. That ends up being about 12" wide all together, and the gap between the seats is less than 10".

If you go with a bench seat, since the back is hollow unlike the buckets, you can use a standard sealed wedge box with a regular 10 or 12" sub. If you want less work and quick thump, then just go out and get a couple regular wedge boxes, make some feet for them so that they sit staight because the floor isn't flat at the back and throw in a bench seat and you're rockin.

So get 2 seperate wedge boxes and put one on each side. Mount your amp on a board and screw it to the centre of your cab wall between the boxes. If you don't already have speakers in your cab corners, add a 4" speaker in each corner. You'll have to run wire if it wasn't already equipped with speakers.

Good luck!

That is definetly really sick, but you need a really shallow box in a mazda. for the seat to move all the way back and be reclined regularly, the box needs to be less than 5 or 6" deep at the bottom. I had a regular wedge box in mine behind the passenger seat and it would go back all the way except to the last notch and the face of the sub pushed against the back of the seat.

So unless you make a very shallow box if you're using buckets, you're best to make a console with the subs between the seats,or just uge regular boxes and a bench seat to give you that extra room behind the seat.

well i like my buckets and i can barely fit my fist behind the seat ... just might stay simple and 4 4" speakers and a stereo ... i want a sub but if i cant oh well

build some kickpanels with some 6 1/2 components. that will give you some volume and midbass. you gotta amp them though.

ANother cheap option is to get some 4x6 or 6x9 speakers and get a pair of boxes and put them behind your seats. Place them so the speakers are facing up. You'll have a nice clear sound. Then you can add in a sub in your console between the seats.

yeah as mike said with the amp...I'd recommend a 4 channel amp...run ALL 4 speakers from 1 amp,and if you get a sub, run a 2nd amp solely for the sub.

i had this clearly in mind

I had a 400w 4 channel amp running 2 speakers and my sub and it used to cut out and go into amp protection mode,so I ended up disconnecting the speakers from the amp and never had any problems afterwards. Putting an amp to your speakers make such a huge difference.

That same amp as I mentioned above was put in my Cadillac. I used it to run my stock door speakers and holy crap did they ever sound good! I could crank it almost full volume with almost no distortion at all. I couldn't beleive how good it made factory speakers sound.

If you're interested, the amp is a Kenwood KAC-6402. I still have it and looking for $150 shipped if you're interested.
