You caught me just at the right time for this question. I am doing a short shifter swap in my RX-7 tranny which happens to be in my B2200. The shifter is pretty much the same between the two. I have taken a few pics too, since I know everyone here hates pics and info. . First is the stock shifter. I just pulled it out so its a wee bit greasy. Next is the shorty next to it. The sort shift is accomplished by increasing the length of the lever. An additional couple pieces are needed to get this done, but as you can see this leaves a nice threaded end for someone to adapt any shifter they want to onto the harder end to fabricate of the two ends. Last shifter pic you can see a bit of engineering went into these shifters so unless you have access to a machine shop and have the skills to tackle this job, the shorty option is probably easier and cheaper. I paid $30 shipped on Egay.

Also make sure you replace these boots if they need it(And they do). I know they are pricey($90 for all 3), but you don't want those exhaust fumes sneaking into your cab, or tranny lube sneaking out of your trans. -Ed

those last pictures lead me to believe that this was originally an automatic. the only boot i have is my shifter boot. so RX7 shifters fit in these ones?

im not fully under standing this, maybe im just a dumbass but how can a longer lever fit in to the same place, wont it push something down in to the trans and maybe rub on some moving parts in side

bump for an unanswered question.

Sorry, I did not catch it the first time around. All the boots are stock for a B truck. The shifter boot that covers all these comes off with the trim bezel, then the larger round boot comes off next. The oblong boot is attached to the metal ring that bolts down to to the tunnel. Last is the little round boot that is around the shifter and secures it to the tranny. The RX-7 may be a little different, but all these boots are needed to keep exhaust fumes out of the cab except for the little one, it is for sealing the top of your transmission. If you don't have them then you should get them. I can get you part numbers if you need. -Ed

There are two more billet collars and a new plastic bushing that help achieve the distancing needed for a short shifter. I did not picture them for this thread as it was not the point. I did mention them though. -Ed
