Oh yeah right, sorry original topic...
After pulling my shifter out I can't see why you couldn't just cut the current one down, drill a hole into it the size of the shifter rod you want to use, put a rod in hole and weld it together. (the hole will help with strength)
Then you can bend the rod to any wonky shape you like.

If it was me and we didn't have so many fascist cops here I would cut it down, get a length of chain, weld the chain to the shifter then weld the links together to make a shaft.
Kinda like how people used to make those chain steering wheels.
Then just weld a threaded rod at the top and fit on any shifter you like.

The chain wheels here are illegal now (too many people getting fingers stuck in links and having accidents) otherwise I would make a matching chain and shifter for my truck.

I was wondering if any other shifters would fit in, like out of an rx7 or something.
