Removed all the screws and such, cluster is loose, but when I try to take it out, its only loose? Do these just pop out? Or should the wiring allow it to pull out? I have heard both and need some confirmation...I dont want to wreck anything...

I am wanting to put a custom blue glow gauge cluster in.

To remove the whole cluster u will need to undo the harness and the speedo cable from the back of it....Mine were tight initially...It just took a little convincing

If this is what ur asking anyway...

sounds like i need to remove some dash from underneath then? I am wanting to remove the cluster and take the glass shield apart. I have a white cluster plate to put on.

i was taking the dash out whenever doing this....soooo.....i had almost everything stripped already.... u should only have to take that front plastic bezel that goes around the cluster though is my thinking..... then i think it pretty much pulled out...u just need to get to the backside of it to get the harness's and speedo cable unhooked. then the whole instrument cluster should come out.

Speedo cable is holding it!....its a bitch go under the hood and push the cable into the truck more to get room for your hand to reach the cable release

Thanks for the tip I will give this a try when I get home from work tonight.

ok so I can gain about 2 inches by pushing the speedometer cable in through under the hood. Still not enough, it only gets the cluster just far enough ahead to see one set of wires. I have looked through under the steering column and it doesnt look too promising.

Is there a way to get in there by taking the dash apart? The more screws I take out the more nervous I get hahaha.

dont worry about taking screws out...just remember where they go...its not really that big of a deal.... taking more of the dash apart really isnt going to help ya there... i mean that cluster should come out by just taking that front clip off....more then likely its the speedo cable still holding u up

its just a matter of getting back in there and unclipping it

has anyone had experience with the rivet needle stops on the gas and temp gauges? I am wanting to put the custom APC white fae on but I got stuck at these rivets. The speedometer needle had screws. Can I just drill these out and not worry about them?

The speedometer cable does not have screws. i just took mine out last week lol. Its kind of a bitch to get your hand back there but just keep wiggling and pulling until you can get your hand back there
