That lil muffler looks pretty sick, How well does it sound? And how much for one?

The Nissan doesn't run, and I haven't installed it. I will get a sound clip as soon as I can. I am going to be selling them for $99 shipped.

Nice idea on the muffler. One thought thow. Isn't it going to get hot as hell? Usually isn't thin gauge steel used to dissapate the heat better? I may be wrong though. Maybe some cooling fins on the muffler would help?

Yes and no. Thin steel will get hot and cool down faster, but with constant heat going through it, it will always get hot. Thicker steel requires more heat to become hot to the touch. However, the most common muffler thickness is 18 gauge, which is about .045" thick. 16 gauge is .060" thick. Not much of a difference. Most mufflers get hot regardless though. Have you ever touched one while the truck is running? They are always hot, but the catalytic converter will get up to 3 times as hot. Cooling fins would make it taller, which would somewhat defeat the purpose. Its meant to provide ample room between the exhaust and the floor, and the thicker gauge material means it can come in contact with the ground and not do much damage.

Also, flowmaster makes 16 gauge mufflers, and now even makes 14 gauge mufflers intended for rock crawlers.

Hmmmm....Kool. Damn you are smart. I was just curious on that. And unfortunetly I have touched a muffler while the car/bike was running... yup its hot. What about fins on the sides? May even look cool do like small logo fins at an angle to catch the breeze. A drag proof muffler.... New product line/offering? Maybe even offer one with a thicker bottom to prevent damage while laying out? Man you are the shiznit on this fab stuff.

I could do an 1/8" thick bottom if someone thinks they are going to drag it that much. But really it shouldn't be hitting the ground before the truck anyways, because it will put stress on the exhaust system and could crack it over time. Its just meant to be very close to the ground and withstand rocks, road debris, and road reflectors.

I might try to round out the corners to make them look nicer though.

It doesnt run? and 99 shipped is a really good price man, Once I hear the clip I might jus snag one up!

No it doesn't. Still no fuel lines, or a wiring harness/computer in it.

wow, i can't say i have ever seen anyone build a muffler before. can't wait to hear it. is sectioning the oil pan like that ok for the engine? you are lessening the oil capacity causing the oil to get hotter than usual. are you going to be running a seperate oil cooler for it or does any of that matter? it is looking real nice man.

This is my solution.

It still holds stock capacity.
