as far as overheating in that 383 truck, he has no fender wells, so theres a ton of air to cool it off there. i'll see how things work out, i may just spring up a new radiator. so far it's been easy, just made my trans mount today and finished fitting everything, so the rest of the engine rebuild can begin, you know oil pan, timing cover, intake and what not and then paint it all. then the motor will be installed perm. then on to the wiring.
nice swappage! what did you get the 302 out of, stang or something else?
the yota rears are nice you can get diff gearing for them & a rear disc setup too, although a ford 8.8 would work too..
i find it hard 2 believe he's not runnig hot in traffic with the stock rad!i had a gm 3 core and was still runnig hot in traffic,i guess it depends on what he's got cooling it,ie shroud, fan ect!i've got a 355 in my truck & just this yr spent the money on a alum.rad & it works great!dont waste your time or money on getting it recored man!trust me i know!there's alot of bugs u'll have to work out when doing a v8 conversion!it'll nickel & dime u to death!!!
yeah, the only problem with a ford 8.8 is it's 5 lug and i don't want to get in to wheel matching and what not. i've done many a motor swap before but this is just a little different. it's the old motor out of my mustang. its got ported heads, comp roller rockers, custom cam, small stuff like that.
i used the short waterpump and timing chain cover setup in mine. it gains you if i remember right 1 1/4" ?? check in the ford motorsport catalogs and it gives the measurements in there. i've got a dual electric fan setup between my waterpump pulley and the rad.
