do you do anything to the bottom motor x-member? and what did you do for your transmission mount? just wondering cause im doing the exact same swap in mine.

i just welded a c notch steel plate to the crossmember that the torque arms go to. it works pretty well. as far as the lower crossmember under the oil pan, i just made lowering brackets for it and relocated it a little lower. i'll try to get some pics up as soon as possible.

Here is my x-member, I just notched it so I could still lay frame....

The oil pan is loosely held on by two bolts, so it will have a little more clearance than in the picture..

so with a front sump stock oil pan all you need to do is notch the engine crossmember for clearance and build a new tranny crossmember? what are yall doing about driveshafts?

This is what you should get in the end. As for the drive shaft I used a cut down mazda shaft with a Mustang yoke on the one end. Stock rear end just DO NOT run blocks. The wheel hop will blow the rear end.

I am going carb if i can pick up this mazda i want. am i correct on the crossmember? and the motor mounts, you just use the stock mazda part with actual mustang gt "mounts". Or do they not have perches? I havent seen one in years.

If you cut the firewall and move the motor back a bit, the oil pan drops right around the lower cross member. It also keeps the motor a lot lower. And for the rad, I'm putting in a stock 5.0 and have enough room to fit the belt and my hand in between the pump and rad.

About that Red and Silver two toned mazda....it is definatly a trailer queen because when i saw it at the SEMA show in 2007 i noticed that the rear end wasn't centered and the passenger wheel was scrubbing the frame. There is no way that truck is streetable.

I'm in the process of 4.3 vortec swap which i need to start posting some pictures on. I got a lot of pics and will have some more this weekend when i get my tranny member in. I am definetly going with a more efficient radiator. My dad is supposed to call the radiator shop he deals with for work to see if they can put a smaller core in the stock 4.3 rad from an s-dime. If so that is what i will probably use since it has built in coolers for the oil, tranny, and power steering.
