Ah hell josh just get some duct tape and bailing twine...LOL isn't that how we do it down here?
Must be nice to actually be working on the truck. Keep it up bro. I can tell you that people like Chris & MazdaBerry know there stuff. I actually had MazdaBerry help me with my ball joints on my old red truck a long time ago...he sent an nice message and awsome photos. Now I know how to properly flip the bj's.

Thanks Jeff. And thanks for the input tre5.. I jus took the comments the wrong way on SSM... You jus hear so much bad stuff bout SSM, I guess I jus assumed people were gonna be assholes...

I'm not sure exactly how much i notched into the frame... maybe an inch n a half at the top... The bag is at an angle in relation to the frame so it needs to be notched more on the top side, if you know what i mean...

I'm gonna gusset mine goin down jus cuz I dont want it movin one bit... I want that bag to pancake perfectly for forever!!

alright thnx bro great help.. like i said before clean setup

Yah your gusset only needs to be on Upside, Think about it what way does your bag move? where does all the strees build? Your bag pushed against upper plate to move lower arm down, well enough said lol just be safe and do what you think is needed, I got everything together tonight and im getting 13.2 lift with my slams..

ONLY problem im havin now is top of tire hits the fender on my way up. so some how i gained positive camber to fast on lift..... I think its possible that my Lower BJ spacers are to much. grrrrrr But right now i can lay on a 22 with my setup. but i dunno i need to finish pie cut

Gussets goin down are to keep the mount from rippin off... it holds it down, so to speak... the upper control arm mount isn't strong enough to hold up to the stress of the weight of the truck... Go look at my thread in the mazda section on Streetsourcemagazine.com

Anyways... update of a lil different flavor.. I messed with my tailgate again after not touching it in 2 months.. I got the led mounting bolts tacked in and hooked up the wires to a battery so i could get some pics.... And I got some mud slapped on to start the much dreaded body work...

Oh, and I wanna see pics of that lift...

Yes, you got it. Just to pound it in for others... Yes, a gusset above the bag plate is the strongest...if it is going to a strong point. Like if the frame was tall enough to gusset upward. Unfortunatly that gusset that layinsparxx posted is going to the upper control arm pivot. The gusset is going to push against the pivot, and the pivot is going to want to push towards the motor since it is attached to the top and back of the frame. You need to tie into the face of the frame to avoid the push towards the inside of the frame rail (motor side). Like Josh said it holds it down, which is needed because if you don't hold it down you are relying on the upper control arm pivot to react to the upperward force, which is not as strong.
