Welllll. Finally an update! Jus a small one but hey. Its progress. I got my framerails made for the backhalf. I made em out of 2x3x1/8 steel. Im super happy with how they turned out. Now i gotta buy more stuff. 18 bushings arent cheap. Yes. Eighteen. You'll see why later

Hey whats going on with the truck?? i have one question when you did your front suspension i see your upper bag bracket its on a big angle. i wanted to make mine parrelel with the ground ( 90 degress out of the frame) what was the reason you did this? does it give u more lift angled up like that i also dont want my bag to bend at full lift liek yours i want to keep it straight at all times is that possible

MazdaDropped - The reason the 'bag bracket is angled up is: when your 'bag is at rest or completely deflated you want it too sit flat on itself, if that makes sence. If the top and base of the 'bag are at an angle in comparison to each other, it will cause rubbing and premature ware. So with your suspension completely laid out, you want the lower control arm 'bag mount at the same angle or degree as the upper 'bag mount, but the bag will not be at a 90 degree to the frame when laid out unless you move the upper mount out and up, which would interfere with the upper control arm. I don't know of a way that the front suspension 'bag will remain straight when deflated and aired up. The geometry just doesn't make sence. It's almost like a reverse cantilever mount. I hope this makes sence. And if I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

Yea man. You are correct. The lower control arm (lca) pivots on the one frame bolt. So unless you did an lca with a pivoting lower bag mount, there would be no way to keep the bag from being curved when inflated. The farther you can mount the bag from the pivot point, the less curve you will see. But the less lift you will get. I tucked mine inside the frame because I am body dropped on 20s. So I needed max lift to be able to untuck the rims.

And also. My bag mount is angled up so much because I'm laying on such a large rim while still having stock control arms and no drop spindles. U can keep your bag mount more parallel to the ground if you use drop spindles or tubular lowers. BUT drop spindles push your front wheels out. So its harder to tuck without 4x4 sheetmetal. And tubular control arms are pricey.

Hope this helps. As for an update, its slowly coming along. I will post an update when I have enough to show. I'm keepin it under wraps till I have enough so no one can steal any ideas before I get it well photographed. Haha

Josh, looks like you've got a great project going on.

A friendly word of advice from someone who has built a few cars in his day.

Try to get at least ONE thing done a day, or week. Don't keep changing your plans for the truck, as its very easy to do.

Make a plan and stick to it. Try your best to buy the parts as you need them. Nothing sucks quite as bad as having a part that is the wrong part and not finding out until a year later {This one actually happened to me when I was building Eleanor. Bought a rear valence for a 67-68 Mustang, they sent one for a 69-70 which wouldn't fit}.

Don't go over board. You guys know what I mean. You go to a car show, drag race, TV car show, then the idea's get going. You end up with a vehicle that will never be done.

Anyway, good luck, and good job.

Thanks for the advice man. That's kinda what I had to do. I wanted a truck that an hourly pay would never be able to build. But life still seems to get in the way. I have the image of this truck bodied and at shows one day so I'm gonna keep at it. I had the frame rails mocked up and tacked in but decided I'm gonna narrow the rails about 6". I wanna have fat ass rims and tires in the back
