Well of course the weekend I wanna work on my frame is the weekend that is gonna be busy as hell... so I got some done but not as much as I was hoping. But I promised an update! So here's what I got so far....

I got everything cut out for the main frame rails. I made a jig the tack the pieces together in. Jus gotta get to welding! Also got some more drawn up on sketchup. Made a fuel cell and changed up the rear crossmember. I'm keeping the angle for all the crossmembers the same as the main incline piece of the frame rails.

Are you making the fuel cell? If so what material?

Thanks man, I appreciate that!

Yes I will make the fuel cell. I'm thinking 11ga mild steel. And I'm looking at this brand, kbs coatings to cost the inside with. But I'm not 100% sure yet. I've never made anything for gasoline before. Haha

I say aluminum

You can use steel and not coat it if you use hot rolled. It will not rust if it's a daily or at least driven once a week. But if you plan to coat the inside make sure the steel is not smooth inside. Fuel tank coating has to be done like anything that sticks to steel. The steel needs to be a little rough. Like sand it a little then coat it.

If its done right you wont have to re do it ever.

Or you could do it in aluminum. I did one in steel my my last Mazda. I put baffles in the middle and some bracing in the corners so it would not crack from the sloshing and pressure.

I would love to do aluminum but I'm not good at tig yet. And I have some baffles inside, that's what the lil dash marks all over it are. I'll def scratch the inside up before I weld it, cuz it's gonna be a garage queen. Maybe drive it once a week in nice weather, haha
