I got the truck in the garage last night and it was a bit of a battle. With the 6 inch lift it would have hit the garage door about 4 inches down this windshield. I took the roll bar out of the back and left it off to the the side then started turning down the torsion bars. Well I guess the torsion bar adjusters didnt want to be in one piece anymore so it broke or come apart or somthing causing the whole right side of the truck to slam into the 33x12.50R15 mud brutes. I tried taking pictures but the batteries went dead when i was taking them of the truck before i started. BUt on the positive side i got the truck inside and on jack stands with the wheels off. I started taking the 3 inch blocks out of the rear. I got the left side out and was about done with the left when the pizza got home and thats about as far as i got. i did get the tires and wheels sent out this morning to get alot smaller street tires to put on till i can get somthing im gonna keep. If anyone has any ideas to solve the torsion bar problem with an estimated cost for the fix let me know. as i said before it is on a very tight budget. Any coments would help. LaTa

you definetly got a deal if nothing else you could part out the 4x4 sheet metal and make money. those wheels wont tuck so if you get the front suspension converted over you cant go but so low. i would get rid of the rear bumper, roll bar, and stripes. and if you cant swap the front suspension over part out the 4x4 sheet metal and find you a 2wd and start fresh

Well the first thing on my to do list is get it where i dont have to jump to get in. Getting rid of the bumble bee paint job is a for sure. The bumper and hitch has to go. Im gonne try my best to get it low. I didnt think the wheels would tuck. i can get a set of 16 inch chevy wheels pretty cheap. keeping the rims i have now r just to roll it around. i had a 350 gave to me so if i can get the stance i want a bigger motor is in store. The bed has a pretty big dent in it dunno if it would be worth the time to fix it.

When the torsion bar screwed up the back side of the fender got smashed due to the tires. But im gonna try my best to do whatever i can.

I got the 3 inch blocks out of the rear this morning and also removed the torsion bars. I know some people have mixed feelings about removing them but this is probably temporary. I also removed the 33x12.50 15 mud tires for some smaller ones. the wheels i have wont tuck so i am going to have to get a set of wheel in the near future. But for it having 4wd front spindles it sits lower than i thought it would. Some time next week im planning on removing the 305 and putting a notch in the fire wall so the dist. wont hit when i take the 3 inch body lift off. does anyone know about how much i need notched and how far down the firewall do i need to go. I do have pictures of how it sits now i will try to put them on in the morning.....LaTa

I have a couple questions. I took a picture of the lower control arm we were talking about if they were different on a 4wd than a 2wd. Here is a pic of the 4wd one.

i havent ever seen a 2wd control arm

also i was wanting to bag it. i dont know if its gonna make it harder with this control arm or not. Here is the frame right above the control arm. would i still put the upper bag mount the same way just cut off the stuff i dont need and put it there. also what type of lower mount would i need if its even possible to bag it

please

the lower arm on a 2wd is totally different. It uses a control arm that has a single pivot with a strut rod from the front of the frame. The 4wd lower arms hang alot lower off the bottom of the frame than the 2wd. Without alot of work you won't be able to get the truck as low as a 2wd. The entire frame on the 4wd is completely different than the 2wd. The leaf springs mounts are different. The front of the frame doesn't curve up as far as the 2wd. Hope this gives you some direction, good luck
