ive taken out the other plugs with no problem buy hand after a slight turn.... #1 is super tight when turning it, i only turned it probably a 1/4 to 1/2 a turn... afraid its going to strip if i take it out... just going to adjust the valves and drive it till i can have a back up plan (new head or rebuild my other)

hmm only thing i can think is the heating up and cooling down has just made it really tight. I dont believe i put the plug gravy on it when i put it back in last time. theres really no point to take it out honestly

Drew, have you tried pulling the stuck plug when the motor was up to temp? I have found that sometimes they come right out when the head is hot.

thats exactly what i was about to suggest. has worked for me several times in other engines.

well, worked on the mazda last weekend. drove the truck around to get it up to running temp, pulled the plug (was tight to turn still), it came out but wasn't pretty..... the threads on the plug were covered with shavings of aluminum..... after getting the aluminum shavings out of the threads of the plug, i looked closely at the plug and notice that one of the threads was pushed/bent down touching the other thread (fubared steal threads on plug vs aluminum head = stripped/damaged head ) , that caused it to strip the plug threads in the head, good thing is that the plug went back into the hole with not much problems, and is holding in there for now (was afraid it was going to blow out while under compression). i also found one of the bolts that hold the cam assembly down is stripped as well, <--- to bad to retap without going to a bigger bolt, i guess when i get some more money together i will just get the head from my old motor rebuilt. if i don't end up trading the truck off in the mean time. also did a little tuning with the timing but still not happy with the performance of this motor, i still have some tuning to do but i just haven't felt like f'in with it. seems like everytime i drive it, it annoys me even more....... i drove the other day after it sat for a month, came back to a flat tire , the bead is leaking bad so now i have to figure out a way to repair that or buy another rim and have it redrilled ...... it was also scary to drive, i suppose the 20yr old steering and suspenion parts are pretty worn out after all this time. driving down the street and every bump i went across the truck would pull quickly in that direction without the steering wheel moving. dunno if i want to put anymore money into this truck ive enjoyed owning and driving this truck up untill now.... will see how things go with the new year as far as a job and money goes. sorry for my long story just thought id share where this and i stand.

oh and would anyone know why my tach only reads to 3000rpms now but works fine at idle and between to 3k????
