i just read all (well, most) of this whole thread. i did look at the pics tho. i was down till i saw the low profile offroad tires on the 18" wheels. i'm not a fan. you need a more 'offroad' appropriate tire and wheel combo! lowpro offroad tires are bunk. anyway..... i still like the truck, and the new engine i'm stoked about. so what are your plans for the front suspension? new longer a arms? long travel with coilovers? i've been wanting to get another ranger or yota or something small and doing a stock height longtravel desert jumper/racer (but mine'll actually go offroad) so i'm interested to see what you've got up your sleeve too.

Wow, that truck is amazing. It's cool that these trucks still look current, style-wise, 20 years after they were sold new. Seeing your truck just reminds me how cool they were then. I'm only 31, but I remember them coming out. I used to draw them all the time thinking they were the coolest trucks on the road. I always wanted one and just now got around to building one.

I'm headed to a Yamaha release event next week for their new 450 cross country quad. I really don't know anything about it yet, but all of the coverage will be on ATVScene.com when I'm done. It should be a cool event.

speedster - thanks for the compliments on the truck. I appreciate your constructive criticism, but let's be honest, this truck will probably never be offroad. Even if it does go offroad, it would only be in the sand. Seeing that this is more of a street truck, I think the lower profile tires are appropriate. I'm not a poser trying to look like I'm building an offroad truck. I have a Jeep project for that: .

I do plan on replacing the stock a-arms sometime with a custom set with coilovers. I'm just not sure when that will be. It kills me every time I walk by the truck sitting in the driveway. I want it back on the road ASAP. The arms and coilovers may be quite some time down the road unless the 302 causes a squat in the front end. Then, I may be forced to go ahead with the new front suspension.

Woohoo a fellow 4by guy! truck is awesome.

Technically, it's not a 4x4 anymore. I bought a Mustang T5 transmission for it and there are no transfer case options for that transmission. Plus, I just really didn't want to fool with the extra hassle of 4wd.

The engine is still at the machine shop. I actually just left there about an hour ago checking in on it myself. He said they should start the assembly on Wednesday. If so, I'm going to try and swing by and get some pictures and video. This engine will be featured on Lunati's website if I can get a good video produced. Other than that, no. I had really hoped to drive this truck to SEMA (from Alabama) this year, but in order for that to happen it would have needed to be done weeks ago.

I'm leaning toward putting an Odyssey battery () in the truck, just for cool points.
