Hope I answer your questions here:

1. The motor will not turn and no electricity will be used when not on the gas. No power consumption unlike a ICE vehicle...I could sit in traffic for HOURS and never use a drop of "fuel"...
2. If I want to change gears, all I will do is let up off the gas and wait (for about a second) for the rpm's to go down a little so i can switch gears...similar to a gas vehicle.
3. I've always put adjusters on all my 4 links but after setting them up and welding them in place, I have NEVER had to adjust them. If the set up is right-on when before welding everything up then it should never have to be messed with. We'll see if it comes back to bite me in the ars....!
4. Not done yet! What you see in the latest pics is where it's at!

Thanks for the props bro!

sweet just wanting to see a vid of this thing going down the road

Yes i think so .... unlike a gas rig with a clutch yo dont have any way to take the load off the trans except buy taking foot off the pedal and matching the rpm so the trans wont grind when changing gears. I understand on the bar deal i just like to play it safe and have the option to adjust pinion if needed. What are you using for brakes? With no vaccum you going to run manual? Ya the truck is kick ass i like all the detail thats going into it.

I have a question...would it be possible to put some sort of alternator on here to charge the batteries while driving?

GOOD QUESTION! We have ordered a vacuum pump and pressure switch specifically for that purpose. The truck already has manual steering, so we don't have to worry about power steering for this one...WHEW!! I've attached a pic of the 3/4 gallon tank we made for the brake system...

We've asked the same question and from everything we've found and read, its not cost effective. The cost and drag on the system compared to what you get out of it isn't worth the time and effort.

Good idea on the brakes, we went manual and its not the best you really miss the power brakes after awhile. To me i would think you could mount like a fire truck alt that puts out 350 amp to the rearend to help charge while driving maybe have it wired so it only came on when the truck was going over 15 mph? I would think that you would be able to get more drive times out of the batts.

Yeah, since we've added about 700-800 pounds, it was a no-brainer to keep the power brakes.

Here's a link to a discussion forum about the alternator deal....some people get off base every now and then but there are several REALLY interesting links and points made...hope this helps!

I learned A LOT from this website to...love it!

The truck is looking great!

I started reading that link about putting on an alternator but I couldn't read much of it. They started talking about perpetual motion and all of that stuff . Most concept electrical vehicles use the concept of alternators except they package them as a brake for the car. As you draw more power from the alternator the electromagnet gets stronger and slows the car faster. If you want to add an alternator it needs to be solidly mounted and not attached with a belt, you also need to be able to control the amount of power it draws.
Regenerative Breaking! I have no idea what the controller entails though.

We can do Regenerative braking with an AC motor unit and controller, not this DC system...WISH WE HAD THE FUNDS FOR THAT!!
