I've got a chance at getting a 87 toyota rear end and drive shaft for $20. My question is will it handle the 302 after a few mods?

I know the stock Mazda axel is extremely strong out by the wheel bearings but is not super strong at the gears set (ring/pinion). Now if the Toyota rear would be stronger than the Mazda, hard to say - My guess would be probably not. What is the Toyota rear out of? 4x4 truck? V-6 truck? Bother would be stronger than say a 2wd 4cylinder truck.

I'm sure there is a few V8 fans on the site that will have more accurate info.

Man the truck's lookin' awesome! So are you planning on bagging it too, or just static with the bd? Sorry if you already wrote about it, I just like pretty pictures, lol!

That's what I'm afraid of with the axle I might still get cuz someone on here might be able to use it. I mean is only 20 bux. I do have an 8.8 out of an explorer but its like 1 1/4 wider than the mazda one. So I might have to get it narrowed I just don't know how much it would be.

As far as baggin it yes that's what im saving up for now. That and getting her on the road
