So does it lay out with that notch now? Definitely looking much better. Good Work!

yeah those are much better welds. it's not too hard to lay a good bead once you have a bit of the technique down... the hard part is setting the machine voltage and wirefeed to get nice bead... if you dont know what you are doing...

looking nice. how strong are those 'old school notches'? i mean thats some beefy steel added, but not as thick as the frame once was.
bigamigo   +1y
its way thicker the frame is only 3/16" at the thickist part and 1/8" on the sides so the pipe notch is 3/8" and the top plate is 1/2" so nuch stronger

and yes it lays ll the way out as long as you cut it all the way up to the very top layer on 15" pathies on 50 sereis

much better

thank you i drove it last night and blew up a few turtles and did a little reverse three wheeling last night

Is he sticking with the monoleaf setup? Notch looks good. I have measured and measured again and thought I could possibly keep the notch under the bed and lay out on Escalades with 205/40/17's. What is the OD on that pipe?
bigamigo   +1y
you can keep it under the bed my old one was that way but with a notch i built the problem is the pumpkin still hits the bed im running 215-40-17's on my truck and the pumpkin sticks through the bed a 1/2'' but if you run a rubber matt or a plastick liner youlle never see it thats what i did in mine.

the pipe is 6" sqedual 40 pipe tell the steel place in youre town and they will know what you need if you link it you will be fine on youre tire size because the u bolts hit hisnotch just as the frame does and he is running pathies and 195-50-15 , and 205-40-17's are a 1/2" taller just cut it all the way up to the top piece of frame, you could even put the top piece of steel there first and cut all the way to it how we did it in the 90's works great very strong just cut the pipe 3" wide so you get a small lip much easier to weld the thick to the thin and get good heat hope this helps
