No capacitors or a line driver even?
Don't believe in them or is it the class you're running in? I know that the amps have caps built in and you have a big alternator but I thought you had to do the comp under battery supply only?
I'm just curious as I'm contemplating getting and a line driver and maybe a cap for my little stereo setup.

no capacitors.i would like to try some capacitors, but if i use them ill be running over 100 farads. small capacitors are just about useless in daily applications.....sure they discharge power when the bass hits, BUT they drain very fast and have to be charged just like a battery. so when it drains, your alternator is not only mtrying to keep up with the draw, charge a battery and now it has to charge the cap. useless. a battery is a much better option it has much more reserve.
as for a line driver i have used them but they arent for me. i didnt gain anything.you really dont need one unless your decks rca is very very low.

haha According to the generally accepted explaination of SPL, 140 db-SPL is equivalent to a jet taking off at 3 meters. YOU'RE AT 162!!! How do you utilize such extreme power?

^ LOL, Hunter actually works for the transportation department and is actually testing the shatter resistance of automobile windows.

Looking (sounding) good Hunter! So, how many "burbs" does it take to break in a set of newly coned subs?

As for the cap vs battery debate, yes the cap can discharge energy faster than a battery but like Hunter stated, you then have to recharge the cap. If you have the room good batteries will offer a more consistent power output than a cap.

On the other hand, a cap is probably the one thing saving my stock alternator from serious shock from the 2 amps that I am running. They (caps) have their place but for Hunters situation they are probably useless. Just my 0.02
