Definitely much more involved then most of us know or understand how to do

Good luck with the build up and and the 163.5 goal. I have a feeling you have the knowledge and hardware to get there!

these woofers have a spider hold down ring. and in order to get to it, i need to get this cone out of the way

thats what the coil looks like. in mint condition. but i needed to change impedences
the subwoofers gap..
thread post photo

this part is important and i didnt take good pics, but the coil needs to be shimmed until it is very tight and barely moveable up and down. this prevents the coil from rubbing the top plate

i happen to use basketball cards as my shims. they work awesome lol.

ok...well got the first part of the recone on...now it just needs to dry.

next we move on to the cone....

make sure you have all your solder joints on the inside of the cone, push her down and apply a good amount of glue around the cone to former joint.

Nice incite to the re-coning of a sub. Was always wondering how hard it was. So, do you get the cones and other parts from RD? After re-coning are the Theile-Small parameters still the same? would assume they are still close if you are using the same components.
