The dent doesnt looks bad but there was a very thin area from rust and it also continued diagonally right to the pinch weld.

let me know what you think

not bad make sure you dont heat it too much grinding the welds down and watch for thin metal on the under side. all in all i just did a similar thing on a 64 impala at school

Can't wait to see it in man! And leave a tiny gap all the way around so your weld will penetrate in good. Man I didn't realize how much you've been doing on this truck. 47 pages! Nice

thanks for looking! I made sure to keep a slight gap for proper penetration on the patch and im hoping to finish burning it in this afternoon. Im set on having the body of the truck 100% straight by the end of summer and possibly even respray it but if not next summer. I have been crazy busy working doubletime OT on weekends this summer so im fighting to make time to work on everything but im happy with what has been acomplished so far. Cant wait for the H and S stud gun and slide hammer to come in so i can begin to learn how to use it and remove all of the trucks imperfections. Happy to say there is no more patching necessary and the rest of the truck is very solid besides a few small dents. next update soon

A stud gun and slide hammer are real handy. More so with dents in hard to reach places, but still a very good investment! Also, with non-unibody vehicles, you don't have to leave a gap for good penetration. Just makes it harder to weld, kind of. If you stitch weld, makes it easier, but in my experience,it is always a little bit easier to weld low, fill high. IE, put the patch metal in behind the hole you've cut, lap weld it and fill it, much easier that way. Just a little tip. Lookin' good thusfar!

I just went through all 47 pages. You were trying to get the front crossmember to lay werent you? Thats only possible with a 3 inch body dropped front crossmember. All the pics you mentioned it wasnt laying up front your truck was sitting flat on the floor. Looks great.

thanks for looking and the advice guys. The front sub frame does lay and i have been dragging it off over the past few weeks. plates expired on the truck so i have really decided to fully repair the cab. I hit the wrecker today with a saws all and a drill for some more patch panels. Stud welder came in! Saved over $120 ording it from Ebay.
