The 3' block will get a truck straight.

Been blocking the truck all day. I also picked up some single stage gloss black made by advanced industrial coatings and hope to spray the cab this weekend!

Block sanding is just all kinds of fun.... NOT. Anyway, was reading your above post and thought of an old pic of my truck...

That's the best way to paint IMO. One section at a time.

I painted my truck that way. I did the hood, and bumper one day, then both doors, then the cab, and last the bed.

Worked out fine.

Looking good dude! Too bad I missed out on the color suggestions, I was thinking a white and charcoal grey two tone would look slick. But as long as the prep and body work is done well, I love me a good gloss black! Can't wait to see it after you play with the big kid crayon!

Thanks for looking guys. Glad to hear painting in stages worked out for you. Thats exactly how I plan on doing this. Cab then fenders hood doors bumper cowel then a the box and tailgate. I sti have been sanding the truck on and off all week whn i can find the time and hope to spray the cab this weekend.

One tip when you go to spray, you'll want to make sure you get good coverage. If you don't, it'll be a little bit lighter in some spots due to primer showing through. This is normally more of a problem with base/clear, but can happen with ss. My recommendation would be to do a few coats, at the very least two after your orientation coat. Good luck doooooood!

not a big fan of ss paint but if you plan on painting the whole thing anyways why not do it all at once? You will only have to tape up the truck once instead of piece by piece hoping not to get any over spray on panels already sprayed. Ive never painted a car in single stage but it can't take that long to do if i can do a tack coat and full coat on a school bus in less than 2hrs. Just my two cents. Truck looks good thou and i know you'll be happy in the end with all the prep work your putting into it that most people neglect.

One of the biggest reasons im spraying SS is because i'm spraying it in my garage. I think that if i'm spraying clear coat in my garage it is never going to look good. I'm going to lay the SS on thick and then wet sand to achieve the desired finish. well the truck is fully disassembled so spraying it in stages wont be to bad. between my job and the rest of my commitments i don't always have more than a few hours to work on the truck which is mostly why i will be spraying it in stages. Still sanding the cab today so hopefully I will get to lay paint soon because i'm getting anxious.
