I kind of sprayed my one Maz in stages. Disassembled it all the sprayed all the individual pieces. In one day mind you, but nevertheless, should work out good for you. I hear ya on the ss over b/c when spraying in a garage, if you happen to get dust nibs in the base before you clear, those don't sand out! Besides, you can always give a quick scuff and clear over the ss paint in the future. Keep up the good work! This truck is a huge inspiration to me!

Painting a full truck in the garage is seldom a pristine operation. In the past I have used a few furnace filters in the windows and a row of box fans under the garage door just to get some good flow along with wetting down the garage floor good and I still ended up with dust. But I do enjoy doing some smaller parts in B/C in the garage...

Your thought on laying down several layers of paint then sanding flat/smooth will probably yield the best results given the color you are using. I assume you have a good buffer? Another option would be to shoot all the individual sections, wet sand smooth, assemble, then lay down a good clearcoatover the entire truck. Of course, that would mean a lot of extra taping and papering but your time is free where as a commercial painter does not have that luxury.

You can still get a crappy paint job in a booth thats not spotless. Ive seen spraybomb paint jobs that looked better then as if it were sprayed in a booth. I went to school for painting way back but anyhow... I painted a snug top hard cover for my old truck with Duplicolor color then clear. You would never know I did it outside.

thanks for looking and the advice. Im still slowly filling and blocking the cab, its about 98% complete. I havent had as much free time to get this done as faster between the rest of my life and work. I actually ended up buying the house on the property where my shop is so come October I will be moving everything over to the property and can work on the truck in my own heated shop all winter!

Spent the day sanding and laying some por15 on the doors. Hoping to spray the jams and install the doors asap so i can finally spray the cab. Taking much longer than I had initially anticipated.

Thanks and it for looking! Its the first time i have actually done body work to this degree and its BEYOND time consuming but i know its going to pay off. This weekend is my City's annual "cruise weekend' 11 blocks downtown closed and full of classic and custom cars from around the province. Fri Sat and Sun nights the main drags and parking lots are PACKED full of custom rides. I spent last cruise weekend working on the truck as well so its a little disappointing not having it out.

Its also the weekend when you are most likely to get your ride pulled over and inspected.
As you can Imagine the Police are everywhere because it can get wild.

Yeah, the cruise weekend is sweet. Last time I went, they had it kind of downtown I think... if there is really a "downtown" is Stoon. I went with my grandpa, it was sweet! I like the feel of it, really. Do they still have the vehicles angle parked on both sides of the road? That was one thing I found really neat about the weekend.

yes 900 vehicles this year and its invite only and sponsors get space. I was askedto take a spot this year but I didnt feel confortable with having my truck there its just way to busy.
