my hinge points are an inch above the bottom of my rollpan, and two inches foreward from the pan. I dump and clear with a 1/4" bed gap.

I acidentally scraped one of my re6's on a brake line mount on the uca while testing my front suspension so i plan on using that bag for a dump bed. Could you guys post up pictures of your hinges as well the plate setup for the bag

thanks!

Is it me or does it look like the bed was pieced together? something doesnt look right here

hmm

So any new progress yet?

I am gonna use some heavy reddi rod in the hinge design, so I can adjust forward and back then I can tweak the cab gap to perfection at any time.

Maybe I'll do a write up on my hinges when I design them, just to share with everyone lookin to do the mod.

I think what will work for ya is to adapt to a swing hinge, like a trunk lid, then ya wont have to change those nice lookin tabs ya got there.
doing that will lift the box up, then away from the cab, so the arc of the outside radius of the box wont interfere with the cab.

Any Qs just ask but I think ya know what I mean

yeah its pieced alright its a 2wd box with 4x4 quarter form an x cab...i couldn't find a reg cab 4x4 box so i built one..lol

so u think the problem might be my hindges are to high up and raises my box to smash into my cab? i havent done anything else to it since then...i been busy buying other b2200 parts to help finish it..

That is absolutely your problem. put your hinges lower at least, if not further back as well. the longest point of your box(from hinge point to corner) is below level. the corner moves forward, until it becomes level with the hinge point, and after it gets above the height of the hinge, it moves rearward again. the lower you make your hinge mounts, the less space you will need to swing in. the front/back location determines how much your bed pivots down in the back. draw a pic of the truck on cardboard, with the ground level too, then draw a bed on paper and cut it out. use a pin or needle, and experiment with hinge points at the rear of the bed to see where you need to be to not hit the cab with the front, or the ground with the rear.

Hope this helps somebody
It is what my plan is

This is my setup.
The setup above this post will not work. the upper pivot point will fvck everything up. you need that attachment point to be solid and unmoving. The cylinder needs to mount further forward than it is. it will be fighting against the hinge metal since they are on the same plane. the mechanical advantage is nonexistant. Also, the shape of the hinge part means nothing. it still attaches two points in space. that hinge could be a straight piece and behave the exact same. Not ripping or dogging, just trying to save you time/money.

lol
I was doing something similar

this will work without changing the frame mounted pivot
