been a while since i've been on here, but i gotta new problem.....blowing black crap out the exhaust...i think i'm running rich, but not completely sure, could just be some build up in the exhuast system... it started when we got our first freezing temps at night a couple weeks ago...it's an 87 b2000 with original carb and intake, with all the emissions bs...sprayed some carb cleaner and hoping that fixes it.... at least temporarily...at first startup in the morning it takes about 10-20 min to warm up, but as it's warming up it feels and sounds like it's getting bogged down.... then when it starts to actually get warm it starts to rev itself to what seems like a high rpm... if i start going anywhere before its warm it will start to misfire and that feels like it's causing the rear tires to jerk causing the whole truck to shake violently.... after a couple minutes of that, if i pull it outta gear it will then rev itself up high again.... if i don't go anywhere until it's completely warmed up everything is kosher, but this thing is my only mode of transportation at the moment and its kinda freakin me out.... so am i running rich, is my carb on its last leg, or do i just need to be patient and let it warm up comletely.... cause it seems like it's using a lot of gas just to warm it up....lol..... i'm hoping for a positive answere before i start tearing into it... thanks guys

check your cat in the exhaust just under the header it could be plugged wich creates alot of back pressure wich may be the bogging feeling you get the same thing happened to mine right after i replaced my carb cuz i thought that was the issue. just bang on it with a hammer when its running to possible get it out or just take it off and bang it on a table.

i'm pretty sure i would have smelled burning flesh if it was my mom's cat, besides she's right here just a purring away.... lol just kidding..... cat converter huh, i'll give it a check, but like i said it only does it on start up on super cold days.... and it damn near dumps a cup full of some kind of clear liquid with black oily flakes.... i know it burns some oil, and it smells like it's burning rich but i can't be dumping that much fuel can i??

That clear liquid is condensation with carbon build up. The colder it is the more condensation build up you'll have. I don't wait for my carb to kick down I do it manually. I'm not willing to piss away fuel I can barely afford.
