Yes, the V8's T5 has taller gearing, which is better (in my opinion) with the short gearing in the rear end. With a small 4-cyl engine, it's nice to have lower gearing (makes getting going and towing/hauling better), but with the V8 in there, you don't really need the lower gearing since the V8 has plenty of low-end torque, and taller gearing means better fuel economy. Plus, the T5's from the V8/5.0 is built a little stronger, and likely to last longer.
The combo you've got (T5 from a 5.0) is better than the 4-cylinder Mustang's T5.
