if there is no cat...the next step i personally would take is check fuel pressure...

theres two cat's on these trucks one right below the manifold and one in transit to the muffler (about the middle of the truck) if that is clogged it won't run right .

Hook her up at idle, give her a rev and hold it she'll drop pressure (rise in vacuum) then stabilize, if it rises in pressure (drops in vacuum) after that it can indicate too much back pressure which affects scavenging which affects intake manifold vacuum.
I hope I have my vacuum rises and drops around the right way... lol!

Sorry no info on the injector resistance.

Tonight I removed the PCV valve and vacuum line. The line is clean. Shot some WD in the valve & cleaned it out. It is a check valve, so could blow through easily one way & restricted the other way. Hooked it up to the big truck & got it jump started. The rpm goes up, the check engine light comes on, the engine stumbles a little, then dies. I'm betting that whatever is the bad part, it will have a wire on it. Fuel psi is over 30 and the truck doesn't have either cat on it. Suggestions?

The EFI B2600i trucks have problems with leaking capacitors (2 of them) on the ECU board. If I'm not mistaken, the ECM for the injected 2.2 is nearly the same as the one for the injected 2.6, so that would mean they would have the same issues.
You can pull the computer, remove the cover and look at the board inside of it. If there is corrosion around the two capacitors (below them as it is mounted in the truck) then they are leaking and etching the board and the components.
One of the telltale signs for a bad computer in the 2.6 is how the engine stumbles as you depress the accelerator.

It might be worth taking a couple of minutes and looking at it.

Here are the 2 capacitors that leak on the B2600i truck computer.

There are places like AvPro that will repair them for you if you find that yours is bad........this next pic shows a "repaired" computer that probably should have been trashed IMO, as you can see, they did a rough job on it also!

Here you can see if it goes too long with this acid from the leaking capacitors sitting on the board, it can eat the traces up on the board as well.

had my b2600i computer rebuilt by AVpro, it quit on me one day, and also ran like crap when it was cold, and when it warmed up it sometime felt i was driving with the brake on, the problem was there for a while but still ran, then it had to give out at some point, after the rebuild its runing great since, he is a good guy to deal with, i had it sent out and back in about a week, from canada to florida and back

OFF TOPIC!

Hey Mike!

I know Hamilton is a large city, but would you happen to know Bob & Pearl Schinkel?
Bob has a real estate & appraisal business there....here's his web page......

I vacation at a resort in Ormond Beach (Daytona Bch. almost) every year and they vacation there at the same time.....I have gotten to know them very well......some crazy Canadians for sure! We really look forward to seeing them every year and always have a blast when we meet up.

Just thought I would throw that out there!

I thought of something else. There is an open port on the bottom of the vacuum cannister right behind the battery. Should this be left open or did maybe a cap fall off of it? Also, while doing some basic switch testing, there are two vacuum switches of some sort on a vertical rail right behind the vacuum cannister. I can't seem to influence the resistance of either one of these by applying pressure or vacuum on them- would either of these be the culprit? Do these trucks have 02 sensors somehwere in the exhaust system? I'm thinking these are the next 3 things that I'm looking into.

2 minutes after placing above post, the pictures & description of the ECU showed up. Awesome- I'm an electronics tech by trade, so will pull this thing out again tonight and take a closer look. Huge pile of thanks!!

Could the pictures have been any better? Me no think so! Top post Earl!
