hey guys my 1990 fuel injected 2.2 is bogging out when on.. it just started the other day i drove it around and then it bogged out and died.. i thought i ran out of fuel and got some and put it in.. still bogged.. if i barley touch the pedal it revs up,, but if i actually step on it the motor starts to bogg and sounds like a muscle car.. i changed fuel pump, distributer cap and rotar,, plugs and plugwires.. it helped but truck still wont run without bogging... it also sounds real airy from the where the intake tube goes into the actual motor or electric choke or thermostat thing .. if that part of the motor is tapped lightly with a hammer the motor starts to shake and almost die.. any ideas would help.. thanks and sorry for the long post.

bump bump i was also wondering if it might have jumped timing?? <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_question.gif" alt=":?:" title="Question" /><!-- s:?: -->

If it idles normal I wouldn't think it would have jumped time. Mine jumped timing once and wouldn't even start.

This sounds exactly like what I experienced when the fuel filter needed replaced. If you drop to 4th (or even 3rd!) gear and floor it, it bogs down &amp; top speed is like 45... it needs a new filter. You have already replaced more expensive things, and with a new fuel filter you will have a good tune up!

Was thinking timing cause when its idling it sounds like its missing ... will change the filter Forsure though .

Make sure your plug wires are away from the exhaust manifold. lol Started doing exactly like your description again, but saw that wire #3 was stuck. Zip tied it to the throttle cable and running normal again.

This may have happened because I put tall Honda Ridgeline lugnuts on the manifold and removed emissions. The store I went to didn't have the regular short acorn ones. More chrome = more better, even if it's lug nuts on your engine and people get confused!

Okay, my '93 fuel injected is doing very similar things. I can blow through the filter fine. replaced fuel pump, sending unit, plugs, wires, coil, cap, rotor and fuel pressure regulator. Fuel press over 30 PSI. Ohmed out the injectors at around 14 ohms each with none shorted to ground. The timing belt and head gasket were changed a thousand miles ago and has run great since then. I thought I found it tonight when I found dirt stuck to the feeler wires in the venturi inside the MAF sensor (or whatever that spacer thingy with the wires on it is right past the air box towards the intake). Shot it with carb cleaner and cleaned it all off- no luck. still cranks- starts to catch every once in a while, but never actually starts. It will start on carb cleaner so I know the ignition side works. WHAT THE CRAP IS WRONG WITH THIS TRUCK???

sounds like it could be a clogged cat converter IMO.

Got a vacuum gauge/tester?

I'm pretty sure my cat was removed long before I bought it. What am I looking for in vacuum? Does around 14 ohms sound about right on the injector resistance?
