ok so here goes, ok over the past few months my mazda 2.2 has gone from good, bad, and wtf!!! at first it started out as just being hard to start as id struggling to get gas, then it started running like poo in the higher rpms above 3grand so bad to where i couldnt keep it in 5th gear or it would slwly lose power and id have to down shift, oh and the starting got progressively worse, if driving if i let off the gas a bit it would even out the missing but as i gave it more gas it would start driving like shit and losing almost all p[ower even on the interstate on no hills, then one night pulling into my neighborhood it just died on me and wouldnt start back up, so far ive changed the fuel pump fuel filter cleaned the sock in the carberater plug wires plugs pvc valve and an oil change, oh btw it does have the weber and pacesetter on it, and i changed the rotor cap and rotor, checked the commpresion and all 4 pistons had zero compression, i dont know what the f*ck to do now, so if youve read this far and think you can lead me in the right direction please do, or ill sit fire to this motherf*cker, thanks :)

Sound a bit tricky, I'm guessing is valve or off timing, if your gone set it on fire ship me the headers jk

head was sent off today for re-surfacing and valve job, but im not sure what it could be, sending the head off was my my recent decision, and yes headers are yours if it goes up in flames

seriously someones got to have a speculation on this?

Well, normally it's a non-interference motor so your timing belt could have slipped, or the cam gear for the timing belt might have stripped the pin and rotated........cam timing is the only way that your going to have zero compression in all cylinders I would think.
If you pulled the head to have it machined.......what did the timing belt & cam gear look like? Got any pictures of it all?

sounds just like my brothers 92 b2200. I rebuilt the bottom end an now he says it run great. If so napa sold me a rering set at areal good price about 250.rings bearings seals gaskets and to be honest it wasn't that hard.Good luck .if you were near by i would rebuild it for you.I just like working on older mazda trucks.

A engine that has no compression in any of the cylinders will sound funny when it cranks over. It will also crank way faster that normal. Did it sound funny. Is it possible that the compression gauge was not working correctly?

to axel breaker earl, no the pin was still there it didnt shear it of and everything seemed to be in shape,, but ive heard that these trucks can throw timing off and you wouldnt be able to tell it, ill try and get some pictures up,doolie where you located at if you dont mind me asking? and mazdaman no it didnt sound no different than normal but it did turn over faster than ususal, and the compression tester works fine, after we got 0 compression on all pistons e actually tried it on another vehicle and yes it does work/

Unless I read ya wrong on the first post, I read nothing about cleaning out the fuel tank or the fuel sock at the pickup. I'd check for rust in tank, sounds like a classic issue to me. I'd clean that up before putting the repaired head back on.

never thought about cleaning the fuel tank out and checking for rust, thanks emjay, i would have never thought to check somethin so simple. also if anymore of yall have any more opinions about that please say so cause im try everything, thanks
